Why I Believe in The Silver Fox (And Why I Hope You'll Consider It for Your Wedding)

by Bill Phelan, Owner

When I first stepped inside the old Masonic Temple at 122 N Park Street, I didn’t see what it was—I saw what it could be. High ceilings, brick walls, original wood floors, massive doors, towering ceilings… the bones were there. And honestly? I thought to myself: this could be a special place.

Not just another venue. A space that felt timeless. That didn't need to be overdecorated or transformed with drapery and uplighting just to feel special.

And that’s what The Silver Fox became.

A Venue With Soul

Every time someone walks through the front door and gasps a little, I know we’ve done our job. The building is over a century old, and we’ve done everything we can to preserve its character while making it ready for your big day.

Don’t take it from me. Here’s what past couples have said:

“All of our guests would not stop commenting on how beautiful and unique the venue was.”—Ashley, WeddingWire
“Tons of charm and history. I honestly didn’t even need to bring much for decor—it's already so visually stunning.”—Google Review

Everything You Need, All in One Place

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming. One of my biggest goals was to create a space where everything flows—no need to bus people across town or juggle five vendors just to make it work.

We’ve got a ceremony space. A cocktail lounge. A big ballroom with hardwood floors for dancing the night away. It’s all in one building, but it doesn’t feel cramped.

“We loved that there was a separate space for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception... It made everything flow so smoothly.”—Ian S, WeddingWire

The “Pay It Forward” Room

This one’s my favorite little secret. Inside the venue, we’ve created a room filled with donated decor items from past couples—centerpieces, candles, signs, dessert platters, table numbers, vases, and more.

If you want to use them, they’re free. If you want to add to the room after your wedding, that’s great too.

“They had items for literally any theme—it was amazing.”—Heidi, WeddingWire
“You don’t need to buy much to make the venue look incredible. Everything is there.”—Hilary, WeddingWire

Weddings are expensive enough. If I can help take a little pressure off, I will.

We’re Here for You

I’ve been lucky to work with a great team, and we take pride in making each wedding feel personal. I know your wedding isn’t “just another Saturday” to you—and it’s not to us either.

“Bill was so fantastic to work with. We felt totally taken care of from beginning to end.”—Taylor, WeddingWire
“Everyone was professional, trustworthy, and committed to our requests. Can’t thank them enough.”—Luis, WeddingWire

If you’ve got questions, I’ll answer them. If you need a hand on the day, we’ll be there. If something’s off, we’ll fix it. That’s how I’d want to be treated—and that’s what you’ll get here.

A Little Bit of Magic in Streator

Let’s be honest: people don’t always expect a wedding venue like this in a town like Streator. But when they walk in, the reactions say it all.

“People were blown away that this kind of venue was in Streator. They didn’t expect it—and that made it even more special.”—Google Review
“It was the wedding of our dreams, and I wouldn’t change a single thing.”—Morgan, WeddingWire

I love when couples discover us, fall in love with the space, and then bring it to life in their own way. I love when it’s your story unfolding here—not ours.

If you’re engaged—or just dreaming—come take a tour. No pressure, no sales pitch. Just a walk through a space I’m proud of, and a chance to see if it feels right for you.

Thanks for considering us.

Bill
